Hamilton Automatic Typewriter, 1889 Serial no. 168, patented on February 15, 1887, invented by Emery M. Hamilton, manufactured by the Automatic Typewriter Company of Brooklyn, New York. Made almost entirely of brass, 48 keys, only capitals, numbers located on the right site, similar to modern computer keyboards, spacebar over the keyboard, engraved "Automatic", chassis with typebars arranged in circular formation, inkpad inking system, blindwriter, striking the paper from underneath, variable spacing for wider or narrow characters, measuring only 11 2/5 x 8 ¼ in. Nahezu vollständig aus Messing gefertigt, 48 Tasten, nur Großbuchstaben, Nummernfeld ähnlich wie bei Computern auf der rechten Seite, Leertaste über der Tastatur, geprägt mit "Automatic", kreisförmig im Gehäuse angebrachte Typen, rundes Farbkissen, Unterschlagmaschine, variabler Abstand für breite und schmale Zeichen, kompakte Bauweise, Größe nur 29 x 21 cm.
