4-inch silver dial decorated with champlevé enamel, calibrated on the inner edge from I-XII and 13-24 for the hours and on the outer edge for the minutes and the quarters, turned gilt bezel and behind a glass door, the iron movement with standing barrels for the three trains, verge escapement with balance and hog's bristle regulator, the backplate stamped NS within a shield for Nicholas Schmidt and mounted with a numbered hours countwheel, enameled quarter strike recording dial, enameled regulator dial, a rare and complete stackfreed and well-shaped steel furniture, the moulded gilt-brass drum case engraved with decorated strapwork around the edge, the two bells inset into the back door with pierced and engraved covers and surmounted by a lion with a ball and with pierced cast mounts to the sides, the whole raised on a later stand with opening compartment applied with a satyr mask and supported by the kneeling figure of Atlas resting on a cloth-draped rocaille base.
