1857-S $20 Narrow Serif, Variety 20C, MS63 PCGS. Ex: S.S. Central America, SSCA 4536. The "Narrow Serif" variety is named after the thin line comprising the left serif of the U in UNITED. The mintmark is furthest left among the eight varieties cataloged by Robert Evans. Variety 20C is significantly scarcer than the often-encountered "Spiked Shield" Variety 20A. The present peach-gold example is lustrous and lovely with a good strike and attractive eye appeal.
