WILSON'S PETREL (PLATE CCLXX)

Wilson's Storm-Petrel, "Oceanites oceanicus" JW 36 fine, fresh impression, slight soiling, faint offprint showing through on the recto 12 1/4 by 19 1/2 in.; 312 by 495 mm. In August, 1831 Audubon sailed on the packet Columbia for America from England. He sketched several birds on this voyage including the Fulmar and Leach's petrel (lots 260 and 264).
