American Dipper, "Cinclus mexicanus" JW 38 some discoloration along a partly broken vertical crease outside the left platemark (reinforced on the verso), slight soiling and slight offprint showing through on the recto 19 3/4 by 12 3/8 in.; 501 by 315 mm. Based on a composition probably painted in London in 1838 from specimens taken on or near the Columbia River. See lot 370.
