Oldsquaw, "Clangula hyemalis" JW 36 fine, fresh impression, some foxing along faint offprint, mainly outside of the subject 21 1/4 by 30 1/2 in.; 540 by 774 mm. Based on a composition probably painted by Audubon and his two sons on the Atlantic coast in 1832 or 1833. "Dr. Richardson informs us," wrote Audubon that "the peculiar cry of this duck is celebrated in the songs of the Canadian voyagers.".
