HARLEQUIN DUCK (PLATE CCXCVII)
Histrionicus histrionicus JW 36 very good impression, slight discoloration in the plate margins, a few pale fox marks 20 3/4 by 30 3/8 in.; 528 by 771 mm. The two ducks at right, painted in Eastport, Maine in 1833, may be based on the work of Audubon's son, John. They were probably added at a later date to his own painting of the male harlequin duck at left.
