SHARP-TAILED GROUS (PLATE CCCLXXXII)

Sharp-tailed Grouse, "Pedioecetes phasianellus" JW 37 fine, fresh impression, very slight soiling and light fox marks 21 1/2 by 29 1/8 in.; 547 by 740 mm. Based on a composition probably painted in Charleston in the winter of 1836- -37 from specimens received from Dr. Townsend in the West.
