THE BIRDS OF AMERICA: ENGRAVED TITLE PAGE TO VOLUME I Signed by the artist 'Autograph of John James Audubon Baltimore Feb'y 29th 1840', a slightly discolored vertical crease within the plate at left (not affecting engraved lettering, but with a few small splits, reinforced with paper on the verso), as softer diagonal crease at lower left, a tear at left center, into the platemark, smaller tears, losses and discoloration in the edges, slight soiling, a few fox marks, slight losses along disbound edge sheet 965 by 650 mm. 38 by 25 5/8 in.
